During 2nd tour of Ukrainian Presidential elections voted for Timoshenko. Czech Republic majority of Ukrainian electorate has voted for Timoschenko.

There were more people turnout. Had to wait in line at temperature -5C for about 1 hour to vote.

On Sun, Jan 17 voted at Ukrainian Presidential elections at the Consulate General of Ukraine in Prague. I have voted for the fresh blood in Ukrainian politics, supporting the youngest of all candidates - Yatsenyuk. Voting process appreared to me as effective, professional, fast, transparant, polite. I have enjoyed it. Then together with friends had a lunch at one of my Prague's favourite places - Cafe Calma. Secret behind my preference is that it is at the Kievskaja street (Kiev in Ukraine is my home town). In photos.

So it is just a warning, can't accuse anybody.. just double check all the information very very careful. Most likely the person behind this credentials is not going to help you, yet instead can fool you.

while looking for a new apartment in Prague I noticed the add on Craigslist.org that some person from UK is there on business with his family and offering to live in his Prague flat in a meanwhile for a rent way below the market value, yet also in addition for a good maintenance of the flat. the add offered that the keys would be shipped from UK by DHL... suggesting it would happen AFTER the rent money + damage deposit be transferred to the bank acocunt of the person.

Following with the person, he has declined to provide any confirmation of his identity. Also the phone number could not be called from skype - it looks is is some special pre-paid or number that you can't track identity of the person behing it. Also done a due dilligence search for the person and there are suspiciously no information on the net about him/her... except manbe simlar rent posts for the flat in Edinburg....

So the more I folloew up the more I got the feeling it is a trap. Maybe it was not... I'm posting this information to share my experience as a reminder to be more careful, do due dilligence online and never shre/revelal critical personal information (money, ID numbers) to somebody whom you don't know well or somebody who is not willing to open to you (and share relevant identity information) in return.

Asian Film Festival 2009, tried to watch Japanese film "Enclosed Pain" film it at Kino Svetozor. Maid selection based on the IMDB rating (8.8 of 10). Yet it was a mistake. Did not undertsood the movie and left cinema in 2omin. Movie is very specific, maid by hand held video cam about difficult youth in Japan.

After talking with number of my Ukrainian friends living outside of Ukraine - information bubble that is now formed in Ukraine about the Swine Flue (A/H1N1) epidemic is perceived as artificially crafted hidden political campaign in the Presidential race. The reasons for such indirect campaign are likely that the population has become non-responsive, passive and fed up with any direct political agitation.

2 day trip to Barcelona - 22-24 Oct 2009 in photos.

Fascinating city with architecture and relaxed live dynamics. I wish we would not catch the all-day rain on Thur 22nd, that only happened once in 4 months (as locals said), yet we got to see the beautiful rainbow over the city that happens as much rare.

Stayed at centrally located hostel in Barcelona "San Medin". The actual hostel is nicer than it's website - clean, accurate, next to metro, fast WiFi, paid 20 Eur per person per night in double bed room with balcony facing the street.

For 350 Kc / 13 Eur ticket cost (one way, 1 person) it worth flying more often. Go WizzAir!

Got a gift from Namibia, Africa - Biltong. It was passed on to me from the one friend who is currently living there via the Czech friend, who went there for vacation. And trust me - this dried meat tastes much more delicious than it looks. ;-)

Watched latest movie by Daft Punk - ELECTROMA. The presentation of it was arranged by it's distributor in Czech Republic - Atlantis Entertainment. Movie is very psychodelic. It was a movie to remember by it's simplicity. It would be a great movie for the visual effects at the party, yet I would not recommend to people paying for watching it at the cinema.

With Iva listened to the music concert of Goran Bregovic at Staromestske namesti on Thur, 17th at 19.30. It was free. Many people came. My understanding of the main message and objective of event was a "Thank you!" by "South Slave" people to people of Czech Republic, which became a 2nd home to many immigrants people of Serbia, Macedonia, Croatia, Albania, Bosnia&Herzegovina after the Yugoslav conflicts. Music was fantastic and energetic, yet the atmosphere among people at the concert was quite intense, probably because the event was packed, some people came drunk, there were few "not mentally adequate" homeless people in the crowd and also was lack of visible security around the area. I believe it is the security issue was a major draw-back in organization that maid some people feel uncomfortable. Yet no complains for music. KALASHNIKOV-KALASHNIKOV!!! ;-)

A small revolution in my neighborhood. Some 100 squatters attempted to capture the building. My windows on the 5th floor facing the building were the action took place. Lots of police. ~70 people temporarily arrested and ~20 who broke into the building were captured by the police in the morning and brought into custody expecting trial.

With Iva attended and saw a great performance - music and martial art (taekwondo) presentation of Korean culture at Municipal house/Obecny Dum on Tue, 15th Sept. It was attended by both Mayor of Prague and Mayor of Seoul. Great and impressive show. I remembered best traditional music (Haegeum Concerto "Bangataryung", with national Korean music intrument haegeum, performed by Eun-li, Kang) and martial art.

On Saturday, 4th July I have obrained a 5th kyu in aikido, after passing the exam in Plzen.

On Sun, 5th and Mon, 6th been in Karlovy Vary at the international film festival. As more people coming each year, the harder it becomes to get to any movies... I have seen only one by a luck/chance... so no personal rating of good movies. It was also being raining on Mon, so even relaxed walking along the streets was not really an option.

Good street food by the Hotel Thermal, feeding ducks in local park, and sun basing at the swimming pool are the special memories.

Got a gift of a wild cherries. Tried to make a jam of it. Even my flatmate Francesco had a skype talk with his mam in Italy just to get the recepie... We started to make it, yet it was too late and we could not safe "the patient" by the morning it become wine smelling cherry and not looking well enough for jam... Been to the vernisage at the gallery - FotoGrafic.cz. Great location - hidden perl of downtown. Photos were good in concept, yet I personally felt that due too much of photoshop mutation of the original photos the human connection between viewer and photo was minimized as well.

The vernisage was accompanied with the great lounge music by DJ Filip (Tyc), from Radio 1, Prague. And tunes of Jose Gonzales - made me search and find this colorful and 'want to hear' advertisement:

Затем вы перевалили за 30. О-о-о, что такое случилось? Для вас это звучит как прокисшее молоко! Оно ПРОКИСЛО; нам придется его вылить. Теперь уже нет веселья, вы просто кислый пельмень. Что не так? Что изменилось?

Вы ДОСТИГЛИ 21, ПЕРЕВАЛИЛИ ЗА 30, ПРИБЛИЗИЛИСЬ К 40, ДОСТИГЛИ 50 и ДОБРАЛИСЬ до 60.

4. Наслаждайтесь простыми вещами.

Party of Cervantes Institute at the Friend's club in Prague. This club is known for being safe harbor for gay people, some were curious why would Spanish Cultural institute want to organize Students-Professors party there. We found no special reasons, but decided it was done for a controversy and fun. Anyway it was a great time for all straight people, who attended. Photos.

Have joined with my Italian flatmate Francesco (Franta) a day walk with friend Deborah and her French guests to the Rudolfinum gallery (Damien Hirst: Life, Death and Love and Spodní proud / Undercurrent - Jiří Straka, Martin Eder, Jonathan Meese, Josef Bolf) and Kampa Modern Art museum. Franta asked to never take him to such boring places again. :-) Photos.
While going to remote Prague district for a job interview has spotted a very interesting real estate project - Prague Marine. Neighborhood of an old ship wharf turned into an area with great romance and modern architecture. Photos.

The Crying Cherry - absolutely, totally brilliant and hilarious. My favorite this year. Few images.

Banana day - promotion of Cequita got me and Iva got to draw creative image of "Love and bananas" we got a free 30min ride in the pedal-boat on the Vltava river + got to eat bananas. In photos.

My friend of US times at Western Kentucky University, Olya Prymak is now married to a Brit and luckily was on a family/business trip for few days in Prague. We got to meet for a drink and quick chat at the Old Town Square. Here are 2 photos.

A racing day organized by British Chamber of Commerce. Regardless it was my 1st time at the races and I tried 2 bets 2x110Kc, I lost. This challenged my believe that "Newbies always win" :-) Photos. BoomBox has appeared in Prague at the Ocko club on Fri, 27 March. great live performance and mix of hits form various albums. The crowd was active and hungry for nostalgic songs, that were sang in chorus. Dancing was a must!!! Here are some captured moments.

The President of Ukraine Viktor Yuschenko have visited Czech Republic (Prague) with his wife Katerina. For coinsidence and luck I got to attend most of the public events he has appeared at:

European Banking and Financial Forum 2009 (see program), where he gave an opening speech on the 2nd day. The key message - Ukraine will not default on it's international debt obligations.
Saw him at the ceremony of putting the flowers to the monument of CZ soldiers. In photos.

JOURNALISTIC CASE:
Also at this time I was asked for the interview by UA crew (Lena Skobalo / Елена Скобало as appears on the post it note contact that I got) of ICTV. I have answered the questions about where I'm from, what do I do in Prague, how the crisis is being felt by Czechs, how it is being effecting me personally.

I have heard from one of my classmates - who reported over odnoklassniki.ru that he saw/heard me on the ICTV in the repport highlighting the President's visit to Prague, where I was saying something in support of UA financial policy and something related to possible foreseen credits from EU. I was more then surprised.

Honestly if you have seen something like this it would mean a montage in the TV studio of ICTV. Despite the fact that I do support the current UA government (both President and Prime-Minister) I believe that using me for faking and delivering message publicly on the ICTV is a bad practice to motivate UA citizens to practice their freedom of speech. Presenting what I was not in fact saying is a breaking of the journalistic ethics and morals. Well done ICTV!!!

Now I'm waiting form more feedback from my friends who could possibly saw that curios report to actually reconfirm if my words were manipulated.

Also then I doubt this case could have a long lasting effect, more then an angry letter to the ICTV studio and few angry sms to Lena. :-)

Honestly it was my 1st time I have heard of musician/DJ Laurent Garnier (from France), who played his 3h set at Roxy. Also it is during the set that I have realized why he is called as the father of techno music. His skill and drive kept me dancing all night long. Great dance to remember. Few captured moments.

My flatmate Boyka is changing jobs and will be going to Germany for training as part of her new assignment. Great news for her!!! The back side of the story is that we needed to find a new flatmate for 3-4 months until B. will be back to Prague. After few personal interviews and one online (skype) interview we got chosen Francesco from Italy. Also the skype interview is very fun, especially when my other flatmate Fahri was showing around the apartment over the build in laptop camera (check the photos). LOL :-)
